Frequently asked questions
Does this converter handle daylight saving time?
Yes. Each side uses its IANA timezone, which encodes the current and historical DST rules for that region. If you pick a date during a DST window, the converter uses that window's offset; cross a transition and the answer updates automatically.
Why is the picker shown in wall-clock time, not UTC?
Because the most common task is 'It's 9 AM here, what time is it there?'. Each panel shows wall-clock time in its own zone. The two panels stay synchronised around the same absolute instant.
What happens if I pick a date during a DST gap or repeat?
When the clock springs forward, an hour doesn't exist; when it falls back, an hour repeats. We use the same defaults as Luxon: gap times shift forward by an hour, repeat times resolve to the later occurrence. If you need exact behaviour during a transition, pick a time at least an hour away from the change.
Can I share a specific conversion?
Yes. The 'Copy link' button captures the from and to zones in the URL (the date can be changed by the visitor). For a one-off specific instant, paste your date into the picker after loading the link.
